Penn State lands 4-star quarterback recruit
Penn State landed a four-star quarterback recruit Friday, picking up a verbal commitment from Marcus Stokes of Nease High School in Florida.
Stokes is rated the 17th-best quarterback recruit in the country by 247sports.com. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Stokes threw for 2,672 yards, 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions in Florida’s second-largest classification last season.
The wesbite listed Indiana, Memphis, Liberty and Georgia State as the other schools interested in Stokes.
Stokes’ pledge gives Penn State nine recruits in the Class of 2023. The Nittany Lions’ class is ranked first in the Big Ten and fourth in the country behind Notre Dame, Texas Tech and Arkansas.
It’s the second straight year Penn State landed a high-profile quarterback commitment. Last year, five-star Drew Allar of Medina, Ohio, picked the Nittany Lions.
