STATE COLLEGE — The Penn State men’s basketball team’s matchup with Minnesota scheduled for Wednesday evening at Bryce Jordan Center was postponed because of positive covid-19 results within the Golden Gophers program, Penn State announced Tuesday.

Penn State (8-7, 3-4 Big Ten) and Minnesota (10-5, 1-5) were scheduled to tip off at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in State College. According to Penn State, both programs will work with the Big Ten on rescheduling the conference game.

“The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and the broader community are of the utmost importance,” Penn State Athletics said in a news release.

The news release also said ticket holders will be “notified once a determination has been made regarding an opportunity to reschedule the game.”

Penn State’s next scheduled game is at Iowa at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. That game will be televised on Big Ten Network.

This is Penn State’s fourth game this season affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The Nittany Lions had non-conference games against VCU, Quinnipiac and Delaware State canceled in December because of positive covid-19 tests within the program.

Since returning from its covid-19 pause, Penn State is 3-2 with wins over Indiana, Northwestern and Rutgers and losses to Purdue and Ohio State.
