Penn State will begin its nine-game grind over nine weeks Oct. 24 at Indiana, according to the Big Ten’s reconfigured, conference-only schedule released Saturday.
The home opener is Oct. 31 — Halloween night — against Ohio State at Beaver Stadium. The Buckeyes and Nittany Lions were ranked Nos. 2 and 7 in the Associated Press’ preseason poll. Big Ten teams are not included in the current rankings, however.
The Ohio State game starts a string of three home games in four weeks for the Nittany Lions, who welcome Maryland on Nov. 7. After a visit to Nebraska on Nov. 14, Penn State is home Nov. 21 against Iowa.
Two days after Thanksgiving, Penn State travels to Michigan on Nov. 28, followed by a trip to Rutgers Dec. 5 and the final regular-season game at home against Michigan State on Dec. 12.
The Big Ten Championship game is Dec. 19 between the first-place teams from the Big Ten’s East and West divisions. If Penn State is not in the title game, it will play a game against an opponent from the West. Nebraska and Iowa are the only West Division teams among Penn State’s first eight games.
Under current Pennsylvania guidelines, fans will not be allowed inside Beaver Stadium for games. Tailgating in the parking lots also is not permitted.
Game times will be announced at a later date.
