Penn State’s Maddie Holmberg, a Hempfield graduate, was named an All-American on Tuesday.

Maddie Holmberg’s career at Penn State isn’t quite over.

It was announced recently that she was granted another season to compete in track and field for the Nittany Lions.

On top of that, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Tuesday that Holmberg, along with teammates Danae Rivers, David Lucas and Alexa Parks, received All-America honors for the indoor season.

Holmberg has earned four All-American honors at Penn State, three of them for indoor competition.

She entered the NCAA Indoor Championships ranked No. 3 in the pentathlon event. Holmberg was set to compete in her third NCAA Indoor Championships in the pentathlon.

The 2015 Hempfield Area graduate earned first-team All-America honors in the event in 2018 and second-team All-America honors in 2019.

She won the second Big Ten title in the pentathlon in program history at the 2020 Big Ten Indoor Championships with her personal-best score of 4,274. Her score also ranks second all-time in Penn State history.
