Peters Township native Christian Humphreys leaves Michigan to play in OHL

Forward Christian Humphreys, a native of Peters Township, has played for the United States National Team Development Program between 2022 and 2023.

Forward Christian Humphreys, a native of Peters Township, has joined the Ontario Hockey League’s Kitchener Rangers.

That team announced it signed Humphreys to an OHL scholarship and development agreement Tuesday.

Humphreys, 18, began the season at the NCAA level with Michigan. Appearing in 10 of a possible 19 games with Michigan, Humphreys had one assist.

A right-handed shot, Humphreys was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the seventh round (No. 215 overall) in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Within the realm of the OHL, the Rangers selected Humphreys in the 11th round (No. 212 overall) in that league’s 2022 draft.
