Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes, who committed only six errors over 122 games and 365 chances this season, has been named a finalist for the Rawlings Gold Glove Award.

Hayes, 26, led all third basemen in MLB, with 21 Defensive Runs Saved, according to the Fielding Bible. Among all players, he was fourth in that category.

Since his rookie season of 2020, Hayes ranks first among MLB third basemen with 65 Defensive Runs Saved. The next closest third baseman is the Colorado Rockies’ Ryan McMahon (43).

McMahon and Austin Riley of the Atlanta Braves are the other finalists among National League third basemen.

St. Louis’ Nolan Arenado has won the NL’s Gold Glove at third base the past 10 seasons, but is not a finalist this year.

Hayes reached career highs this season with 15 home runs and 61 RBIs while recording a .271 batting average, his best since the 2020 season when he played in only 24 games.

A Pirates third baseman never has won a Gold Glove, but 19 Pirates have been so honored since the award was first presented in 1958. The most recent winner was catcher Jacob Stallings in 2021.

Rawlings will announce the winner Nov. 5 on ESPN.
