The Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday traded left-handed pitcher Jackson Wolf, who was designated for assignment March 28, to the San Diego Padres for minor-league infielder Kervin Pichardo.

Pichardo, 22, split time last year between the Padres’ High-A and Double-A farm teams, batting .257 (67 for 261) with 10 homers, eight doubles and 43 RBIs.

He produced an on-base percentage of .370 and an OPS of .772 in 85 total games.

Pichardo, who was immediately assigned to Double-A Altoona, has played in 239 minor-league games, with a career slash line of .226/.351/.360.

Wolf, acquired last season from San Diego in a trade that sent pitcher Rich Hill and first baseman Ji-Man Choi to the Padres, was reassigned to Altoona by the Pirates in early March after being one of the club’s first cuts during spring training.

Wolf, 24, made one start for San Diego last year and eight for the Curve, where he went 0-4 with a 4.25 ERA in 36 innings.
