Pirates activate 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes from IL, option INF Kevin Padlo to Indianapolis
After missing 10 games with a mid-back muscle strain, third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes is back with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Pirates activated Hayes from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, and he is in the starting lineup for their game against the Atlanta Braves at PNC Park. The Pirates were 2-8 without Hayes, who is slashing .251/.323/.358 with 18 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 35 RBIs in 103 games this season.
To make room on the active roster, the Pirates optioned corner infielder Kevin Padlo to Triple-A Indianapolis. Padlo was 0 for 11 in three games, playing first base and third base.
The Pirates also announced that catcher Jose Godoy, who was designated for assignment, has cleared waivers and accepted an assignment to Indianapolis.
