Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Tyler Heineman, who had been out since Sept. 23, returned from the seven-day concussion injured list in time to start Sunday’s game at the St. Louis Cardinals.

To make room on the active roster, the Pirates placed catcher/first baseman Zack Collins on the 10-day injured list with a non-covid illness.

Both Heineman and Collins were claimed off waivers from Toronto this season. Heineman is batting .222 with six doubles and eight RBIs in 49 games, while Collins is hitting .040 (1 for 25) in 10 games, eight at first base and two at catcher.
