Pirates activate RHP Yohan Ramirez from paternity leave list, option RHP Cam Sanders to Triple-A
Ahead of their Wednesday afternoon series finale at home vs. Chicago, the Pittsburgh Pirates reinstated righty reliever Yohan Ramirez from the paternity leave list.
In a corresponding transaction before first pitch between the Pirates and Cubs, fellow righty Cam Sanders was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Ramirez, 30, is 1-2 with a 5.90 ERA over 19 appearances this season, striking out 40 with 12 walks in 29 innings.
He was placed on the paternity leave list Sept. 14 to celebrate the birth of a daughter.
The 28-year-old Sanders was called up from Triple-A on Aug. 5 and made his MLB debut that same day vs. the San Francisco Giants.
Sanders pitched six times out of the bullpen for the Pirates, posting a 8.10 ERA, 2.10 WHIP, four strikeouts and five walks in 6 2/3 innings.
