The Pittsburgh Pirates are still working through logistical details regarding the arrival and distribution of additional Paul Skenes bobbleheads stemming from the original promotional giveaway Saturday at PNC Park.
But on Wednesday, the club reached out to fans, particularly those who scanned into PNC Park seeking one of the coveted Skenes National League Rookie of the Year bobbleheads but left empty-handed due to the initial allotment of 20,000 running out.
Pirates chairman Bob Nutting has assured all who were in attendance Saturday will receive a bobblehead.
Per the club, emails sent to fans read in part: “To provide some peace of mind while we work through logistical timelines and details, we have added one barcoded Skenes Bobblehead ticket to your MLB Ballpark App account, for every ticket you had that scanned after the bobbleheads were distributed at the gates on Saturday. These tickets will act as a voucher which you will use to claim your Paul Skenes Bobblehead.”
Formal details regarding a timeline for the arrival of the bobbleheads, as well as the process of distributing them, have yet to be announced.
Fans who scanned into the game with paper tickets and were not attending the game as part of a group need to reach out to the Pirates either by phone at 1-800-BUY-BUCS or by email at talkback@pirates.com.
Some fans have also noted that while they were among the first 20,000 to enter PNC Park Saturday, their gates of entrance were already out of bobbleheads by the time they arrived.
In a recent communication with TribLive, Pirates senior vice president of communications and broadcasting Brian Warecki said that fans falling into that category would not be overlooked.
“If someone scanned in after their gate was out of bobbleheads, they will be accounted for,” Warecki told TribLive. “As Bob Nutting made sure of, we are committed to ensuring every fan who came to the game on Saturday receives a bobblehead.”
The recent Skenes bobblehead promotion caused a frenzy on the North Shore, with fans lining up around PNC Park and across the Roberto Clemente Bridge into downtown hours in advance of first pitch vs. the Cleveland Guardians.
Skenes, 22, is the reigning NL Rookie of the Year and went 11-3 with a 1.96 ERA in 2024, placing third in the NL Cy Young voting.
So far this season, he is 2-2 with a 2.87 ERA, 30 strikeouts and four walks.
