Pirates broadcaster and World Series champion Steve Blass sits with his wife, Karen, during a ceremony honoring his 60 years of service with the team Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at PNC Park. Blass is retiring after the season ends.

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced Saturday as part of their Steve Blass celebration they will create a team hall of fame, and Blass will be part of the inaugural class in 2020.

Blass went 103-76 with a 3.63 ERA in his 10 seasons with the Pirates and won a championship in 1971 by throwing a complete game in Game 7 of the World Series. He also spent 34 seasons as a color commentator for Pirates games on TV and radio before retiring this weekend.

The hall of fame will select a limited number of members each year, and fans will have a chance to help choose the inductees. The hall-of-famers will be honored with permanent displays inside PNC Park.
