The Pittsburgh Pirates selected the contract of right-hander Yohan Ramirez from Triple-A Indianapolis ahead of Friday’s series opener in Minnesota against the Twins.
To make room for Ramirez on the roster, utility man Jared Triolo was optioned to Triple-A, and first baseman/outfielder Matt Gorski was designated for assignment.
Ramirez, 30, would be in line to make his 2025 Pirates debut.
This year in Triple-A, Ramirez is 2-1 with a 3.19 ERA through 27 games.
Ramirez previously spent parts of two seasons in Pittsburgh in 2022 and 2023, going a combined 4-1 with a 3.67 ERA over 21 games. He was designated for assignment in September 2023.
Triolo appeared in 55 games with the Pirates this season, slashing .158/.253/.266 with three homers and 10 RBIs.
Defensively, the 2024 Gold Glove winner continued his utility role with the Pirates, making starts at first, second, third base and shortstop.
Gorski, a 2019 (second round, No. 57 overall) draft pick by the Pirates, appeared in 15 big-league games with the team this season after making his MLB debut April 24, batting .195.
With Indianapolis, the 27-year-old was hitting .278 with four homers and 15 RBIs through 22 games.
