The Pittsburgh Pirates added another outfielder to the mix Friday by claiming Marco Luciano off waivers from the San Francisco Giants.

The 24-year-old Luciano is a former top-100 prospect who has played shortstop, second base and left field.

The Pirates acquired a top-100 prospect Thursday night in outfielder Jhostynxon Garcia in a five-player deal that sent starting pitcher Johan Oviedo to the Boston Red Sox.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Luciano hit .214/.335/.413 with 21 doubles, 23 home runs, 66 RBIs and 76 runs scored in 125 games while spending the entire 2025 season with Triple-A Sacramento.

His 85 walks led the Giants’ minor-league system and were the second-most in the Pacific Coast League. His 23 homers last season were the second-most among all Giants farmhands and ranked fifth in the PCL.

Luciano was the No. 2 international prospect as a 16-year-old when the Giants signed him to a $2.6 million bonus in 2018, and he has hit double-digit home runs in every season as a pro.

Luciano entered the 2023 season ranked in the top 100 prospects by MLB Pipeline (No. 22) and Baseball America (No. 36) before making his MLB debut that July.

In 41 games in the majors over the 2023-24 seasons, he hit .217 (25 for 115) with eight doubles, one triple and three RBIs.
