Pirates farm report for April 13, 2024: Bubba Chandler throws 4 no-hit innings for Altoona

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 6-8) was swept by Toledo (Tigers) in a doubleheader, 13-4 and 3-2.

In a makeup game from Thursday, SP Cam Alldred (10.00) yielded seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. Alldred lasted two innings. The bullpen didn’t fare much better as Kade McClure (16.88) surrendered four runs in two innings and J.C. Flowers (11.12) gave up two runs over two innings. C Grant Koch (.167) hit a solo homer and doubled. 3B Malcom Nunez (.267) went 2 for 3 with a double and SS Nick Gonzales (.362) hit his eighth double of the season.

In the regularly scheduled game, SP Quinn Priester (3.95) suffered his first loss of the season, allowing three runs on seven hits over four innings with eight strikeouts. He gave up doubles to Jace Jung, Keston Hiura and Corey Joyce. 2B Liover Peguero (.392) had two hits and hit his first homer, a two-run shot off Brant Hurter in the first inning. CF Matt Gorski (.233) hit his third double of the season. Kyle Nicolas (1.17) pitched two scoreless innings of relief with five strikeouts.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 4-3) split a doubleheader with Harrisburg (Nationals), losing a makeup game from Thursday, 7-3, and winning the regularly scheduled game, 5-3.

In the makeup game, SP Sean Sullivan (5.87) gave up a three-run homer to Yohandy Morales in the third inning and took the loss. Sullivan pitched four innings and struck out five. 1B Seth Beer (.211) had an RBI single. The Curve managed only three hits and all three runs they scored were unearned.

In the regularly scheduled game, SP Bubba Chandler (2.45) pitched four no-hit innings with six strikeouts and two walks. Nick Dombkowski (4.50) got the win in relief, allowing one run over two innings with three walks and no strikeouts. Cameron Junker (0.00) got the final two outs to earn his second save. C Abraham Gutierrez (.368) went 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. CF Matt Frazier (.238) hit an RBI single and 3B Jackson Glenn (.227) drew a walk with the bases loaded.

Next: vs. Harrisburg (Nationals), 1 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 5-3) picked up a 4-3 win over Winston-Salem (White Sox). RF Rodolfo Nolasco (.136) hit a two-run double in a four-run top of the third. SS Jack Brannigan (.286) had an RBI single in the frame and DH Termarr Johnson (.111) brought in a run on a hit by pitch. Johnson went 1 for 3 with a single. 2B Mitch Jebb (.292) singled twice. SP J.P. Massey (4.32) got the win, allowing two runs on three hits over five innings with three strikeouts. Brandan Bidois (3.00) pitched a clean ninth with two strikeouts to earn his first save.

Next: at Winston-Salem (White Sox), 2 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 1-7) lost 4-3 to Lakeland (Tigers). RP Tyler Kennedy (13.50) gave up a go-ahead two-run double to Max Clark in the bottom of the sixth and took the loss. SP Michael Kennedy (6.43) allowed two runs on six hits over 3⅓ innings. He struck out six and walked one. RP Magdiel Cotto (1.50) pitched two scoreless innings of relief. 1B Juan Jerez (.250) went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. DH Jack Herman (.179) drove in a run with a single in the fifth, which gave the Marauders a 3-2 lead. 2B Jesus Castillo (.120) had an RBI single in the second.
