Pirates farm report for April 20, 2024: 3 Greensboro pitchers combine on 4-hit shutout

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 10-10) was crushed by St. Paul (Twins), 12-4. LHP Michael Plassmeyer (1-3, 6.86) started and gave up two runs on five hits in four innings. He struck out four. LHP Jose Hernandez (23.14) then allowed two runs in one-third of an inning and RHP Kade McClure (16.88) was tagged for five runs on one hit and four walks in 1⅓ innings. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (3.00) worked a scoreless 1⅓ innings. C Carter Bins (.275) went 1 for 4 with two RBIs. 1B Jake Lamb (.362) went 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored. 2B Liover Peguero (.311) was 1 for 2 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 5-8) lost 6-2 to Bowie (Orioles) when Jud Fabian hit a walk-off grand slam off RHP Cameron Junker (0-1, 12.46) in the bottom of the ninth. RHP Braxton Ashcraft (6.75) started and allowed one run on four hits in 4⅓ innings. He struck out three and walked none. RHP Eddy Yean (1.93) worked two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. RF Tres Gonzalez (.217) went 3 for 5 with a double and a run scored. 1B Seth Beer (.270) went 2 for 3 with a walk. C Abrahan Gutierrez (.364) went 3 for 4 with two RBIs.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 9-5) beat Hickory (Rangers), 8-0, with three pitchers combining on a four-hit shutout. RHP Wilber Dotel (1-0, 0.00) started and went five innings, allowing two hits and a walk with two strikeouts. LHP Luis Peralta (0.00) pitched a scoreless sixth with two strikeouts. RHP Darvin Garcia (4.91) took it from there for his first save. He allowed one hit and struck out one in three innings. 3B Charles McAdoo (.256) went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer, his first. C Geovanny Planchart (.158) also hit a two-run homer, his first, going 2 for 4 with three RBIs. RF Nodolfo Nolasco (.135) went 1 for 4 and hit a solo shot, his first. 2B Jack Brannigan (.263) went 1 for 3 with a double and a stolen base. DH Termarr Johnson (.205) went 1 for 2 with two walks, a run scored and a stolen base.
