Pirates farm report for April 21, 2024: Yasmani Grandall homers as Indians blank St. Paul
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 11-10) shut out St. Paul (Twins), 5-0. The Indians finished with a 5-1 record during the homestand. LHP Eric Lauer (2-0, 2.37) tossed five no-hit innings with eight strikeouts. RHP Ben Heller, RHP Connor Sadzeck, RHP Kyle Nicolas and RHP Brent Honeywell Jr. combined to allow one hit and one walk with six strikeouts in four innings of relief. On a rehab assignment, C Yasmani Grandal (.250) hit a two-run homer and was 2 for 4 with three RBIs. DH Matt Gorski (.269) was 3 for 4 with a triple. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.268) doubled. CF Ji Hwan Bae (.458) was 1 for 3 with a walk. SS Nick Gonzales (.385) was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 5-9) lost to Bowie (Orioles), 5-3. CF Matt Fraizer (.209) and RF Aaron Shackelford (.217) each hit home runs in the ninth inning. 1B Jase Bowen (.157) was 2 for 4 with an RBI. LF Joe Perez (.294) was 2 for 4. RHP Po-Yu Chen (0-1, 9.90) took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits with a walk and strikeout in 2 1/3 innings. LHP Anthony Solometo (4.66) started and allowed two runs on two hits with three walks and three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 3-12) scored three times in the bottom of the 10th and defeated Daytona (Reds), 8-7. RF Jesus Castillo (.178) had the walk-off single. SS Javier Rivas (.122) was 3 for 4 with two doubles, a solo homer and three RBIs. C Omar Alfonzo (.262) was 2 for 4. LF Juan Jerez (.250) had two doubles and an RBI. 3B Garret Forrester also had an RBI double. LHP Magdiel Cotto (2-1, 2.45) allowed one earned run on one hit with two walks and a strikeout in an inning of relief to earn the win.
