Pirates farm report for April 25, 2023: Cal Mitchell goes 5 for 5 in Indianapolis win

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 9-13) shellacked Columbus (Guardians), 10-4. LF Cal Mitchell (.236) went 5 for 5 with his first home run. RF Josh Palacios (.308) was 3 for 4 with his first homer, a three-run shot, and five RBIs. 1B Miguel Andujar (.288) went 1 for 3 with a double. RHP Chase De Jong, on a rehab assignment for a lumbar strain, started and pitched a scoreless inning. LHP Kent Emanuel (1-1, 9.35) followed and threw four scoreless frames to earn the win.

Next: Wednesday vs. Columbus (Guardians), 1:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 7-8) was throttled by Reading (Phillies), 11-2. RHP Kyle Nicolas (1-2, 4.34) started and allowed seven runs, none earned, on nine hits, including two homers, in 4.2 innings. LF Fabricio Macias (.167) went 1 for 3 and hit his first home run. 3B Domingo Leyba (.356) went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. 1B Mason Martin (.206) went 2 for 4 with an RBI and his third stolen base.

Next: Wednesday at Reading (Phillies), 6:45 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 11-5) was pounded by Rome (Braves), 7-2. LHP Anthony Solometo (0-1, 4.76) started and allowed two runs on two hits and three walks in five innings, striking out four. RHP Brad Case (30.86) followed and was touched up for five runs, four earned, on four hits and two walks in 1.2 innings. The Grasshoppers were held to four hits. 3B Mike Jarvis (.229) went 1 for 4 with a home run, his third. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.273) was 1 for 4 with his seventh stolen base (and his first caught stealing).

Next: Wednesday vs. Rome (Braves), 11 a.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 11-5) beat Dunedin (Blue Jays), 3-1. LHP Dominic Perachi (4.22) started and went 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and four walks with six strikeouts. RHP Yunio Thibo (1-0, 1.23) worked 1.1 scoreless innings to earn the win. RHP Mike Walsh (0.00) pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save. LF Enmanuel Terrero (.364) went 2 for 4 with a double and a three-run home run, his second. 2B Termaar Johnson (.250) went 0 for 3 with three strikeouts.
