Pirates farm report for April 28, 2023: Chase De Jong effective in rehab appearance
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 9-16) was outslugged by Columbus (Guardians), 7-4. RHP Osvaldo Bido (1-2, 5.12) started and was touched up for six runs on six hits and three walks in 3.1 innings. He struck out seven. RHP Chase De Jong (0.00), rehabbing a lumbar injury, pitched two scoreless innings of relief, as did RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (4.09). RHP Colin Selby (4.50) worked a scoreless ninth. CF Josh Palacios (.375) went 3 for 4 with two doubles and a two-run homer, his second. 1B Aaron Shackelford (.232) went 1 for 4 with his first home run.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 9-8) and Reading (Phillies) were rained out. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 12-7) managed just two hits in a 6-0 loss to Rome (Braves).3B Jackson Glenn (.292) went 1 for 3 with a double. RF Sammy Siani (.268) was 1 for 2. RHP Braxton Ashcraft (0-1, 4.50) started and went four innings, allowing four runs on five hits, including no homers. He walked none and fanned two. RHP Dante Mendoza (7.71) and RHP Oliver Mateo (4.26) each pitched a scoreless inning. Greensboro and Rome were scheduled to play a doubleheader Friday, but the second game was rained out. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday.

RHP Elijah Birdsong (0.00) allowed no hits, walked two and fanned two in two innings. RHP Mike Walsh (0.00) struck out two in the ninth. 3B Deivis Nadal (.186) went 2 for 4 and hit his second home run. CF Tres Gonzalez (.317) went 1 for 3 with two walks and his first home run. C Geovanny Planchart (.176) went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles. SS Jesus Castillo (.254) went 1 for 3 with three RBIs.
