Pirates farm report for April 8, 2023: Mike Burrows leaves with injury as Indy wins 4th straight

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 4-4) opened the season with four straight losses followed by four straight wins, beating Louisville (Reds), 5-4. RHP Mike Burrows (2.70) started but left the game with an injury in the second inning. LHP Cam Alldred (1-0, 0.00) pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out three to pick up the win. RHP Yerry De Los Santos worked a perfect ninth to earn his second save. SS Nick Gonzales (.222) went 1 for 4 with his first home run. 2B Mark Mathias (.386) also went 1 for 4 with his firtst homer, a two-run shot. 1B Endy Rodriguez (.217) went 1 for 4 with an RBI and a walk.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 0-3) was swept in a three-game season-opening series, losing to New Hampshire (Blue Jays), 4-2. DH Henry Davis (.200) went 1 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs. RHP Jared Jones (0-1, 3.86) started and took the loss, allowing two runs on one hit, a home run, and two walks in 4.2 innings. He struck out six. RHP Tahnaj Thomas (0.00) and RHP Matt Eckelman (0.00) each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 1-1) evened its record with a 5-3 win over Hudson Valley (Yankees). C Abrahan Gutierrez (.250) went 2 for 4 with a two-run home run. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.125) went 1 for 4 with a triple and two runs scored. 2B Maikol Escotto (.429) and 1B Will Matthiessen (.333) each had two hits. RHP Bubba Chandler (5.40) started and allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and two walks in 3.1 innings. He fanned four. RHP Eddy Yean (1-0, 0.00) pitched two scoreless innings to record the win. RHP Jack Carey (0.00) pitched two perfect innings to earn his first save.
