Pirates farm report for Aug. 13, 2024: Billy Cook belts grand slam to lift Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 52-59) beat St. Paul (Twins), 5-4, when LF Billy Cook (.286) hit a grand slam in the seventh inning, his 13th homer of the year. RF Billy McKinney (.280) went 1 for 2 with his fourth homer. 3B Alika Williams (.299) went 1 for 4 with a triple. Those were the only three hits Indianapolis recorded in the game. RHP Luis Cessa (4.25) started and went six innings, giving up four runs on five hits and five walks. RHP Fineas Del Bonta-Smith (2-1, 3.68) did not allow a run or hit in two innings to pick up the win. RHP Connor Sadzeck (4.11) pithed a scoreless ninth for his third save.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 45-64) was blanked 5-0 by Bowie (Orioles). RHP Po-Yu Chen (4-8, 4.15) started and went 3⅔ innings, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks with one strikeout. RHP Justin Meis (6.32) pitched 2⅓ scoreless innings without allowing a hit. RHP Brad Case (4.26) finished up with three scoreless innings, giving up three hits. CF Matt Fraizer (.237), C Abrahan Gutierrez (.250) and LF Tres Gonzalez (.237) each went 2 for 4.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 62-46) lost 8-1 to Bowling Green (Rays). SS Termarr Johnson (.237) went 2 for 4 for the Grasshoppers, who managed only four hits. RHP Derek Diamond (5-5, 5.26) started and allowed six runs on six hits in four innings. He walked two and struck out four. RHP Alessandro Ercolani (3.60) gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits in 3⅔ innings.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 46-63) was shut out 2-0 by Dunedin (Blue Jays). RHP Zander Mueth (0-1, 4.70) started and allowed two runs on three hits in three innings. He walked three and struck out four. LHP Connor Oliver (5.60) pitched two scoreless, allowing one hit. LHP Connor Wietgrefe (0.00) worked a scoreless sixth. RHP Luigi Hernandez (6.61) worked the final three innings, allowing no runs or hits with two walks and five strikeouts. RF Esmerlyn Valdez (.234) went 2 for 4 with a double. 1B Axiel Plaz (.216) went 2 for 4 and C Justin Miknis (.179) went 2 for 3.
