Pirates farm report for Aug. 15, 2021: Will Matthiessen's 8 RBIs lift Greensboro to 2 wins
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 43-46) was shut out 8-0 by St. Paul (Twins). LF Ka’ai Tom (.278) was 2 for 4. 3B Tucupita Marcano (.238) also had a hit. Catcher Taylor Davis (.273) and CF Chris Sharpe (.206) each doubled. RHP Max Kranick (1-3, 5.91) allowed five runs (one earned) on five hits in 2/3 of an inning and took the loss.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 47-41) defeated Erie (Tigers), 5-3, in 10 innings. In the top of the 10th, DH Matthew Fraizer (.368) and CF Ji-hwan Bae (.259) each doubled in runs, and RF Jack Suwinski (.250) hit a sacrifice fly. Fraizer had three hits, and Bae, SS Diego Castillo (.276) and LF Cal Mitchell (.272) each had two. Castillo had two RBIs, including a solo home run. LHP Omar Cruz (3.33) allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts in four innings and got a no-decision. RHP Cristofer Melendez (2-2, 3.80) got the win after allowing one run in 2 1/3 innings of relief.

GREENSBORO (High A, 58-32) won a pair of games over Winston-Salem (White Sox). In the continuation of Saturday’s game, Greensboro won 14-3. 1B Will Matthiessen (.219) hit a three-run homer and was 3 for 5 with 6 RBIs. He has 39 RBIs this season. DH Lolo Sanchez (.242) was 4 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored. SS Liover Peguero (.261) was 3 for 4 with an RBI. 3B Andres Alvarez (.268) had two hits and knocked in two runs. RHP Tahnaj Thomas (2-2, 4.53) allowed two runs on five hits with five strikeouts in five innings to earn the win.
The Grasshoppers also won 4-1. Matthiessen was 2 for 3 with two-run home run. 3B Jared Triolo (.303) hit a solo home run. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (2.51) allowed one hit with two strikeouts in two innings in a no-decision. RHP J.C. Flowers (5-2, 4.69) allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts in three innings of relief to earn the win.
