Pirates farm report for Aug. 3, 2022: Andres Alvarez homers twice in Altoona loss

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 47-50) beat Louisville (Reds), 5-4, with two runs in the bottom of the 10th. SS Rodlofo Castro (.243) had an RBI double and 3B Diego Castillo (.200) a run-scoring single in the 10th. Castro went 2 for 5 with a triple. LF Travis Swaggerty (.271) went 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. C Carter Bins (.199) went 1 for 4 with an RBI. RHP Jerad Eickhoff (4.18) started and pitched two scoreless innings. RHP Cody Bolton (2.84) and RHP Travis MacGregor (10.54) also pitched two scoreless frames. LHP Cam Vieaux (5-0, 2.23) gave up one run in the final two innings to earn the win.

Next: Wednesday vs. Louisville (Reds), 1:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 47-50) lost 5-2 to Akron (Guardians). 2B Andres Alvarez (.238) went 3 for 4 with a double and two home runs, his 16th and 17th, and his 18th stolen base. C Blake Sabol (.271) went 2 for 4 with a double. 3B Jared Triolo (.269) was 1 for 4 with a double and his 20th stolen base. RHP Aaron Shortridge (0-2, 9.68) started and gave up four runs on four hits and five walks in 2.2 innings to take the loss. RHP JC Flowers (2.85) pitched three innings of scoreless relief.

Next: Wednesday vs. Akron (Guardians), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 42-53) was knocked around by Bowling Green (Rays), 11-5. RHP Jack Carey (4.62) started and went 2.2 innings, allowing four runs, none earned, on four hits with five strikeouts. RHP Domingo Gonzalez (6-3, 5.87) gave up three runs on three hits in 2.1 innings to take the loss. LF Hudson Head (.226) went 2 for 3 with a three-run homer, his ninth. RF Yoyner Fajardo (.259) went 2 for 4 with an RBI. SS Francisco Acuna (.257) went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. 3B Dariel Lopez (.287) went 2 for 4.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 49-47) topped Fort Myers (Twins), 2-1. RHP Bubba Chandler (5.59) started and went 3.1 innings, allowing one run on one hit and four walks, striking out three. LHP Anthony Solometo (3-0, 3.55) pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk, to earn the win. 2B Maikol Escotto (.256) went 2 for 3 with a double. C Wyatt Hendrie (.228) was 1 for 3 with an RBI. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.243) went 1 for 1 with a walk and his 20th stolen base.
