Pirates farm report for Aug. 4, 2023: Roansy Contreras throws 2 perfect innings for Bradenton

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 50-55) gave up three runs in the bottom of the eighth and lost 5-3 to Gwinnett (Braves). RHP Duane Underwood Jr. (0-5, 7.41) gave up two runs on three hits to take the loss. RHP Jared Jones (4.50) started and went 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and five walks with seven strikeouts. LHP Rob Zastryzny (6.17) allowed one run on two hits in 1.1 innings. 2B Nick Gonzales (.262) went 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored and his second stolen base. 1B Mason Martin (.227) went 1 for 3 with a double, a run scored and RBI and a walk. RF Miguel Andujar (.363) went 1 for 4 with an RBI and a walk. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.248) went 1 for 2 with an RBI.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 47-49) used four pitchers to throw a five-hit shutout in a 4-0 win over Richmond (Giants). RHP Braxton Ashton (1.59) started and gave up two hits and two walks with three strikeouts in three innings. LHP Nick Dombkowski (2.90) and RHP Granf Ford (2.53) each pitched two innings without allowing a hit. RHP Oliver Garcia gave up three hits over the last two innings to earn the win. C Carter Bins (.333) went 1 for 3 with a two-run homer, his first. SS Tseng-Che Cheng (.270) went 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and his seventh stolen base. 3B Jackson Glenn (.238) went 1 for 4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 51-45) blanked Asheville (Astros), 7-0, behind a strong start from RHP Bubba Chandler (7-3, 5.08), who went seven innings, allowing four hits with no walks and six strikeouts. RHP Jake Stevenson (1.53) pitched a scoreless eighth and RHP Santiago Florez (6.61) worked a hitless ninth. 1B Malcom Nunez (.444) went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer, a double, two runs scored and four RBIs. LF Sammy Siani (.237) was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. SS Jack Brannigan (.275) went 1 for 2 with a walk, an RBI and two stolen bases. RF Tres Gonzalez (.277) went 1 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. 2B Termarr Johnson (.077) went 1 for 4 with a walk and two runs scored.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 58-41) doubled up Tampa (Rays), 6-3. RHP Roansy Contreras (0.00), making his first appearance after being assigned to Florida on July 14 after a dismal first half of the season in Pittsburgh, started and threw two perfect innings, striking out a pair. C Geovanny Planchart (.240) went 2 for 3 with two doubles and four RBIs. 3B Yordanny De Los Santos (.203) went 1 for 3 with a double and a pair of runs scored. RF Sergio Campana (.250) went 1 for 4 with a double and a run scored. SS Mitch Jebb (.393) went 1 for 4 with an RBI and his second stolen base. LHP Dominic Perachi (5-0, 4.22) allowed three runs on seven hits and four walks in 3.2 innings but picked up the win. RHP Darvin Garcia (7.9)) worked 2.1 scoreless innings and LHP Yoldin De La Paz (6.43) pitched a perfect ninth for his first save.
