Pirates farm report for Aug. 5, 2023: Ji Hwan Bae homers on rehab assignment with Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 50-56) lost 5-1 to Gwinnett (Braves). CF Ji Hwan Bae (.222), on a rehab assignment for an ankle injury, went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. Only three other Indianapolis players managed hits, and they were all singles. LF Miguel Andujar (.362) went 1 for 4. RF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.248) went 1 for 4 with his 12th stolen base. LHP Cam Alldred (7-4, 4.81) started and took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in six innings. RHP Yohan Ramirez gave up three runs on two hits and two walks in two innings.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 48-49) clobered Richmond (Giants), 9-1. CF Matt Fraizer (.254) went 3 for 5 with a double, three RBIs, two runs scored and his 18th stolen base. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.278) went 2 for 4 with a run scored. 3B Jackson Glenn (.247) went 2 for 5 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored. 1B Will Matthiessen (.118) went 1 for 3 with a double, two RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. RF Chavez Young (.232) went 2 for 3 with two walks and two stolen bases. RHP Aaron Shortridge (6-7, 5.11) was the winning pitcher, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk with nine strikeouts in six innings. LHP Geronimo Franzua (6.75), RHP Justin Meis (5.31) of Bethel Park and LHP Tyler Samaniego (5.50) each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 52-45) scored four in the seventh and beat Asheville (Astros), 5-3. RF Tres Gonzalez (.276) went 1 for 4 with a three-run homer, his seventh. C Nick Cimillo (.333) went 1 for 4 with his first homer. LF Sammy Siani (.238) went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a walk. RHP Derek Diamond (3.75) started and went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, including a homer, and two walks. RHP Jaycob Deese (3-2, 5.13) pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win and RHP Eddy Yean (5.12) threw two scoreless frames to earn his fourth save.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 58-42) fell 4-2 to Tampa (Rays). LF Rodolfo Nolasco (.197) went 1 for 3 and hit his 13th homer. SS Jesus Castillo (.225) went 0 for 4 with a walk, an RBI and his 27th stolen base. 2B Charles McAdoo (.500) went 2 for 4 with a double. RHP Drake Fellows (6.75) started and pitched two scoreless innings, allowing no hits and one walk with three strikeouts. RHP Wilber Dotel (3-2, 2.80) took the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks in six innings. RHP Brandan Bidois (2.45) worked a scoreless ninth.
