Pirates farm report for Aug. 8, 2024: Jared Jones gives up 1 hit, a homer, in 1st rehab start

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 50-57) managed four hits in a 3-1 loss to Nashville (Brewers). RHP Jared Jones (0-1, 6.75) started and pitched 2⅔ innings as he began a rehab assignment (lat). He allowed one hit – a two-run homer by Vinny Capra – with one walk and three strikeouts. RHP Mike Burrows (3.65), meanwhile, worked five scoreless innings, allowing two hits with no walks and two strikeouts. 2B Nick Yorke (.318) went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI. DH Henry Davis (.296) went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts.

Next: Friday at Nashville (Brewers), 7:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 44-61) lost 4-2 to Portland (Diamondbacks). LHP Anthony Solometo (6.49) started and gave up two runs on two hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings. RHP Grant Ford (2-2, 4.35) allowed two runs on three hits and three walks in two innings to take the loss. RHP JC Flowers (4.19) pitched 3⅓ scoreless innings without allowing a hit or walk. RHP Jack Carey (3.43) threw a scoreless inning. DH Yoyner Fajardo (.316) went 2 for 4 with an RBI. 1B Nick Cimillo (.293) and LF Sammy Siani (.255) also went 2 for 4.

Next: Friday at Portland (Diamondbacks), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 60-43) and Rome (Braves) were rained out. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 44-61) clobbered St. Lucie (Mets), 10-1. 1B Derek Berg (.286) went 2 for 4 with his first homer, a grand slam. 3B Jhonny Severino (.345) went 4 for 5 with two triples, three runs scored and an RBI. C Axiel Plaz (.214) went 2 for 5 with an RBI. DH Duce Gourson (.167) went 1 for 4 with a double, two walks, two runs scored and an RBI. LHP Michael Kennedy (2-5, 4.38) started and went five innings to earn the win. He gave up one hit, a solo home run, and struck out six. RHP Luigi Hernandez (7.05) took it from there, giving up one hit in four scoreless innings to pick up his second save.

Next: Friday at St. Lucie (Mets), 6:10 p.m.
