Pirates farm report for July 13, 2021: Mitch Keller strikes out 8 in Indianapolis victory

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 30-29) earned a 3-2 win over Omaha (Royals). RHP Mitch Keller (1-0, 1.80) earned the victory after after allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits with three walks and eight strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. SS Dee Strange-Gordon (.254) was 2 for 4 in his fourth game with the Indians since signing July 7. CF Anthony Alford (.296), 3B Hunter Owen (.217) and 1B T.J. Rivera (.267) also went 2 for 4.

Next: Wednesday vs. Omaha (Royals), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 32-26) beat Binghamton (Mets), 6-3. SS Connor Kaiser (.133) hit a first-inning grand slam to spark the Curve. It was the 47th grand slam in Curve history. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.276) and RF Cal Mitchell (.294) also had RBI singles in the first inning. LHP Cam Vieaux (3-2, 4.50) allowed one run on two hits with one walk and four strikeouts in four innings. RHP Steven Jennings (1-0, 6.00) earned the win after allowing two runs on three hits with two strikeouts in three innings of relief.

GREENSBORO (High A, 36-25) blanked Rome (Braves), 2-0. 1B Aaron Shackelford (.220) hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth to provide the scoring for Greensboro. It was his 14th of the season. He now has 38 RBIs. 2B Nick Gonzales (.231) was 1 for 4. LF Matthew Fraizer (.330) doubled and walked. RHP Colin Selby (1-1, 6.26) picked up the win after allowing one hit with four strikeouts in three innings of relief. RHP Michael Burrows (2.25), RHP Garrett Leonard (4.91) and RHP Austin Roberts (4.26) combined for six no-hit innings with six strikeouts.

Next: Wednesday at Rome (Braves), 7 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low A, 39-21) scored four runs in the eighth inning and edged Daytona (Reds), 6-5. RF Jack Herman (.250) smacked a three-run home run in the eighth to spark the rally. LF Sammy Siani (.215) also had three RBIs and has 35 this season. RHP Luis Ortiz (3.32) allowed two runs on four hits with five strikeouts in a six-inning no-decision. RHP Ryan Troutman (2-0, 6.35) picked up the win after allowing three runs on two hits in 1 1/3 innings of relief.
