Pirates farm report for July 17, 2021: Steven Brault makes rehab start for Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 31-32) dropped both games of a doubleheader to Omaha (Royals). Omaha won the first game 2-1. LHP Steven Brault (0-1, 3.00) made a rehab start and allowed one run on two hits with two strikeouts and took the loss. RHP Cody Ponce (5.61) finished the game and allowed one run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts in four innings. 3B Hunter Owen (.219) had an RBI. 1B Christian Bethancourt (.276) was 2 for 3.

In Game 2, Indianapolis lost 4-3. 2B Dee Strange-Gordon (.263) was 2 for 4 with an RBI. CF Anthony Alford (.305) also had two hits, including a double. RF Bligh Madris (.266) had an RBI. RHP Beau Sulser (4-3, 3.41) allowed four runs on seven hits with four walks and one strikeout in four innings en route to the loss.

Next: Sunday vs. Omaha (Royals), 1:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 34-27) defeated Binghamton (Mets), 9-2. DH Cal Mitchell (.289) was 2 for 5 with two RBIs. RF Daniel Amaral (.236), CF Jonah Davis (.224) and SS Connor Kaiser (.133) also each had two RBIs. LHP Omar Cruz (1-1, 1.77) allowed two runs on six hits with one walk and eight strikeouts in five innings to earn the win.

Next: Sunday vs. Binghamton (Mets), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High A, 38-26) topped Rome (Braves), 8-5. 2B Nick Gonzales (.226) had a hit and knocked in two runs. 1B Aaron Shackelford (.217) hit his 15th home run of the season. RF Matt Gorski (.218) was 2 for 5 with a homer. RHP Colin Selby (2-1, 5.64) threw three no-hit innings of relief with four strikeouts and earned the win.

Next: Sunday at Rome (Braves), 2 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low A, 41-23) lost to Daytona (Reds), 2-1. DH Ernny Ordonez (.261) was 2 for 4. RF Daniel Rivero (.000) had an RBI. RHP Adrian Florencio (3-3, 2.75) allowed two runs on six hits with one walk and six strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings and took the loss.
