Pirates farm report for July 2, 2021: Curve's Trey McGough strikes out 9 in victory
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 27-24) fell 5-2 to Iowa (Cubs). The Indians managed just four hits. RF Christian Bethancourt (.294) had an RBI single, his 23rd of the season. 2B T.J. Rivera (.265) hit an RBI double. SS Cole Tucker (.208) was 1 for 4. RHP Steven Wright (3-4, 5.80) allowed three runs on seven hits with five walks and four strikeouts in five innings and took the loss. RHP Geoff Hartlieb (0-0, 7.71) threw two hitless innings of relief with two strikeouts.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 29-20) edged Hartford (Rockies), 2-1, in a five-inning, rain-shortened game. LHP Trey McGough (1-2, 4.26) struck out a career-high nine batters en route to a victory. He allowed one run on four hits and one walk in five innings. C Arden Pabst (.191) had an RBI single, and 1B Mason Martin (.254) hit an RBI double.

GREENSBORO (High A, 29-22) dropped a 6-3 decision to Bowling Green (Rays). LF Matthew Fraizer (.306) was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. RF Fabricio Macias (.318) knocked in a run, and CF Matt Gorski (.204) hit a solo home run, his seventh of the season. RHP Will Kobos (2-2, 2.33) allowed three runs on four hits with four strikeouts in two innings of relief and took the loss.

BRADENTON (Low A, 34-18) dropped a doubleheader to Fort Myers (Twins). In the first game, Fort Myers won 7-4. SS Dariel Lopez (.247) was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and LF Jase Bowen (.257) also had two hits and an RBI, his 28th of the season. DH Endy Rodriguez (.256) had two hits. LHP Nick Garcia (3-2, 3.77) allowed six runs (two earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks in two innings in defeat.
Fort Myers won the second game 5-4. Rodriguez hit a two-run home run, his seventh of the season. 2B Yoyner Fajardo (.261) was 2 for 3. RHP Sergio Umana (0-2, 3.68) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits in 3 2/3 innings and took the loss. LHP Logan Hofmann (3-1, 2.53) allowed three runs on two hits with five strikeouts in three innings and earned a no-decision.
