Pirates farm report for July 20, 2023: Indy wins on Josh Palacios homer in 10th inning

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 43-49) beat Iowa (Cubs), 5-3, on a two-run home run by CF Josh Palacios (.387) in the top of the 10th inning. 3B Chris Owings (.248) went 3 for 5 with a triple and two RBIs. DH Ryan Vilade (.270) went 2 for 5 with a run scored. C Jason Delay (.143) went 1 for 4 with an RBI and his first stolen base. RHP Kyle Nicolas (10.31) started and allowed three runs on five hits and three walks in 3.2 innings. Four relievers held Iowa scoreless the rest of the way. RHP John O’Reilly (5.23) gave up two hits an two walks in 1.1 innings, RHP Colin Selby (3.29) pitched two scoreless innings, RHP Cody Bolton (2.93) worked a scoreless eighth, and RHP Hunter Stratton (3-4, 5.18) threw two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and fanning three, to pick up the win.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 40-43) got past Reading (Phillies), 4-3. 1B Mason Martin (.219) went 1 for 1 with his 15th home run and three walks. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.236) went 3 for 4 with an RBI. 2B Domingo Leyba (.351) went 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. C Abrahan Gutierrez (.216) went 1 for 3 with an RBI. RHP Beau Sulser (10.80) started and allowed two runs on three hits in three innings. LHP Nick Dombkowski (3-2, 3.25) threw four scoreless innings of relief, allowing three hits and one walk, to earn the win. LHP Braeden Ogle (5.04) pitched a scoreless eighth and RHP Cameron Junker (3.89) gave up an unearned run in the ninth while earning his first save.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 42-42) lost 3-2 to Wilmington (Nationals). RHP Thomas Harrington (0-3, 4.79) started and went five innings, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. RHP Ryan Harbin (7.20) pitched two scoreless innings and RHP Eddy Yean (5.79) threw a scoreless frame. 1B Ernny Ordonez (.216) went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. SS Mike Jarvis (.228) went 2 for 4. DH Eli Wilson (.226) went 1 for 4 with a double.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 50-36) gave up five runs in the top of the 10th and lost 11-7 to Fort Myers (Twins). LF Deivis Nadal (.201) went 3 for 4 with a grand slam, his fifth homer of the year, a double and his 23rd stolen base. 1B Josiah Sightler (.510) went 3 for 5 with his fourth home run. CF Lonnie White Jr. (.222) went 2 for 5. The rest of the Marauders lineup went 0 for 24 with 11 strikeouts. LHP Miguel Fulgencio (0-2, 6.89) gave up five runs, four earned, on four hits and two walks in the 10th to take the loss. RHP Alessandro Ercolani (4.12) started and allowed four runs on six hits, including three homers, in five innings. RHP Jorge Ramos (0.00) pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
