Pirates farm report for July 6, 2021: Mitch Keller throws 5 scoreless for Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 27-27) managed just three hits and lost 1-0 to Columbus (Indians). RHP Mitch Keller made a strong start, giving up two hits and no runs in five innings, striking out four and walking none. Keller has a 1.84 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 14.2 innings since being sent down. LHP Austin Davis pitched two scoreless innings. RHP Shea Spitzbarth pitched one. LHP Joe Jacques took the loss, giving up a run in the ninth. 1B Will Craig and LF Bligh Madris went 1 for 4. 3B Hunter Owen went 1 for 3.

Next: Wednesday at Columbus (Indians), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 30-23) outslugged Akron (Indians), 12-9. 1B Mason Martin went 3 for 5 with two home runs, his 14th and 15th, and five RBIs. CF Jonah Davis went 4 for 5 and hit his sixth home run, scoring three and driving in three. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba went 1 for 5 with two RBIs and his 10th stolen base. 2B Daniel Amaral and DH Chase Murray had two hits apiece. LHP Cam Vieaux started and pitched effectively, giving up one run on two hits in five innings, striking out five and walking none. Three relievers combined to give up eight runs in four innings.

Next: Wednesday vs. Akron (Indians), 6:30 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High A, 32-22) beat Asheville (Astros), 7-5, thanks to the late-game heroics of CF Matthew Fraizer. He went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer in the seventh and a walk-off two-run shot in the nonth. Fraizer is hitting .319 with a .960 OPS and 13 home runs. 2B Nick Gonzales went 2 for 3 with a triple and his fifth home run. RHP Matt Gorski went 1 for 3, hit his eighth home run and stole his ninth and 10th bases. No one else in the lineup recorded a hit. RHP Quinn Priester started and gave up two runs on two hits in five innings. He fanned three and walked two.

Next: Wednesday vs. Asheville (Astros), noon

BRADENTON (Low A, 35-19) and Clearwater (Phillies) were rained out by Hurricane Elsa. The game will be made up in a doubleheader at 5 p.m. Thursday.
