Pirates farm report for July 8, 2023: Termarr Johnson homers in Bradenton loss

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 40-45) gave up three runs in the top of the ninth and lost 8-7 to Memphis (Cardinals). RHP Juan Minaya (0-1, 3.86) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk while recording two outs in the ninth. 1B Aaron Shackelford (.241) went 2 for 3 with his 11th homer and 3B Chris Owings went 1 for 3 with a two-run homer, his fifth. LF Miguel Andujar (.361) went 3 for 5 with an RBI. 2B Liover Peguero (.154) went 1 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs. LHP Kent Emanuel (6.16) started and gave up four runs on six hits and two walks in five innings. RHP Travis MacGregor (2.13) pitched two scoreless innings.

Next: Sunday vs. Memphis (Cardinals), 1:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 39-40) doubled up Erie (Tigers), 4-2. 2B Jackson Glenn (.318) went 2 for 5 with a double and three RBIs. SS Tsung Che-Cheng (.232) went 2 for 3 with two stolen bases and a pair of runs scored. RF Matt Fraizer (.256) went 2 for 4 with a run scored. LHP Omar Cruz (4.12) started and went 2.2 innings, allowing one run on two hits. RHP Justin Meis (3-3, 6.33) of Bethel Park picked up the win, allowing one run on one hit, a solo home run, in 3.1 innings. RHP Grant Ford (2.25), LHP Tyler Samaniego (5.81) and RHP Oliver Garcia (4.97) each pitched a scoreless inning.

Next: Sunday vs. Erie (Tigers), 1 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 39-39) was clobbered by Aberdeen (Orioles), 16-1. The Grasshoppers used seven pitchers and five of them gave up at least two runs. RHP Valentin Linarez (0-5, 5.31) started and gave up two runs on four hits in two innings to take the loss. LHP Mitchell Miller (7.89) got one out and allowed three runs. RHP Logan Hofmann (13.50) recorded two outs and was tagged for five runs on two hits, including a three-run homer, and three walks. CF Tres Gonzalez (.282) went 2 for 4 with a walk. SS Maikol Escotto (.203) went 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Next: Sunday vs. Aberdeen (Orioles), 2 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 44-35) lost 4-3 to Daytona (Reds) on a walk-off walk. RHP Elijah Birdsong (1-1, 4.15) took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks in 1.1 innings. RHP Wilber Dotel (3.27) started and pitched five scoreless innings, giving up two hits and five walks with four strikeouts. LHP Julian Bosnic (3.82) pitched 1.1 scoreless innings of relief. 2B Termarr Johnson (.230) went 1 for 2 with his eighth homer and a pair of walks. His on-base percentage is .397. DH Josiah Sightler (.531) went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
