Pirates farm report for July 9, 2023: Luis Ortiz takes loss in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 40-46) was knocked around by Memphis (Cardinals), 13-5. Indianapolis used seven pitchers in a bullpen game. RHP Luis Ortiz (2-2, 2.94), making his first Triple-A appearance since being sent down Wednesday, allowed five runs, three earned, on no hits and four walks in 1.1 innings. RHP Brad Case was tagged for six runs on seven hits, including two homers, in two innings. LF Miguel Andujar (.365) went 2 for 3 with his 10th homer. CF Chris Owings (.252) went 1 for 5 with a two-run homer, his sixth. SS Alika Williams (.271) went 1 for 4 with his fourth homer. 2B Lioer Peguero (.222) went 2 for 5 with an RBI. RF Ryan Vilade (.276) and 3B Vinny Capra (.248) each had two hits.
Next: Friday at Omaha (Royals), 8:05 p.m.
ALTOONA (Double-A, 39-40) and Erie (Tigers) were rained out. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Aug. 9.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 45-35) took care of Daytona (Reds), 4-2. RHP Alessandro Ercolani (3.86) started and went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. RHP Wil Crowe (2-0, 0.00), rehabbing a shoulder injury, pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing a walk and striking out two. RHP Joshua Loeschorn (4.46) worked a scoreless ninth to pick up his second save. LHP Miguel Fulgencio (5.27) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings. LF Rodolfo Nolasco (.235) went 1 for 4 with a two-run homer, his 11th. 3B Deivis Nadal (.186) went 1 for 4 with an RBI. 2B Termarr Johnson (.231) went 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored.
