Pirates farm report for July 9, 2025: Ronny Simon walks it off for Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 52-36) scored one in the eighth and two in the ninth to get past Gwinnett (Braves), 3-2. In the ninth, SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.222) hit a tying RBI single and DH Ronny Simon (.316) followed with a walk-off RBI double. CF Ji Hwan Bae (.281) hit an RBI single in the eighth. RF Nick Solak (.363) went 1 for 3 with a double. Simon stole his 18th base and Bae and Cheng swiped their 11th. RHP Sean Sullivan (4.32) started and went three innings, allowing just a solo home run. RHP Colin Holderman (7.20) threw a perfect sixth, RHP Michael Darrell-Hicks (4.50) followed with two scoreless innings and RHP Yohaz Ramirez (2-1, 3.19) pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up the win.

Next: Thursday vs. Gwinnett (Braves), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 39-43) scratched out three hits in a 3-0 loss to Binghamton (Mets). 1B Esmerlyn Valdez (.208) went 1 for 3 with a double. SS Kerwin Pichardo (.232) and RF Jase Bowen (.256) had singles. RHP Alessandro Ercolani (3.82) started and pitched five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk with three strikeouts. RHP Justin Meis (2-2, 2.87) gave up two runs on two hits, including a homer, in 1⅓ innings to take the loss.

Next: Thursday at Binghamton (Mets), 6:07 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 56-25) and Bowling Green (Rays) were rained out. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Thursday.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 40-42) was blasted by St. Lucie (Mets), 10-2. 3B Jhonny Severino (.199) went 1 for 4 with his seventh homer. 2B Richard Ramirez (.300) went 1 for 2 with a double. CF Edward Florentino (.304) went 1 for 3 with an RBI. RHP Carlos Castillo (1-4, 4.65) started and was touched up for five runs, four earned, on 11 hits in 3 ⅔ innings. RHP Brennan Malone (5.40) pitched 1⅓ scoreless innings.
