Pirates farm report for June 21, 2023: Jared Triolo steals 4 bases in Indianapolis win

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 30-40) split a doubleheader with Columbus (Guardians). In the first game, an 11-2 Indianpolis win, 3B Jared Triolo went 3 for 3 with four stolen bases, three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk. He has eight steals for the season. DH Aaron Shackelford (.247) went 2 for 4 with his 10th home run and three RBIs. CF Ryan Vilade (.276) went 2 for 2 with two doubles, two walks, a run scored and an RBI. C Endy Rodriguez (.240) went 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. 2B Nick Gonzales (.261) went 1 for 2 with a double, two walks and a run scored. 1B Miguel Andujar was 1 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. LHP Kent Emanual (5-3, 6.37) started and allowed two runs on three hits and a walk in six innings. He fanned eight. RHP John O’Reilly (6.26) threw a scoreless seventh.

Columbus won the nightcap, 3-2. C Grant Koch (.233) went 1 for 3 with a two-run homer, his third. Triolo (.288) went 1 for 3 with a double. RHP Travis MacGregor (2.25) started and tossed three scoreless innings, giving up three hits and a walk and striking out three. RHP Duane Underwood Jr. (0-2, 6.00) took the loss, allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits in two innings. RHP Juan Minaya (0.00) pitched two scoreless frames.

Next: Thursday vs. Columbus (Guardians), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 33-31) swept a doubleheader from Bowie (Orioles). In the first game, a 3-2 Curve win, newly promoted RHP Braxton Ashcraft (0.00) started and allowed one unearned run on two hits in three innings with four strikeouts. RHP Justin Meis (2-3) of Bethel Park gave up one run on a solo home run in three innings with three strikeouts to pick up the win. LHP Tyler Samaniego (6.08) worked a scoreless seventh for his fourth save. SS Liover Peguero went 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored. LF Lolo Sanchez (.205) went 1 for 3 with a pair of RBIs.

In the second game, Peguero (.273) hit a solo home run to lead off the first inning for Altoona’s only hit, but that was enough to give the Curve a 1-0 victory. Three Curve pitchers combined to throw a three-hit shutout. LHP Nick Dombkowski (4.14) started and allowed two hits and two walks with two strikeouts in four innings. LHP Omar Cruz (1-1, 3.75) worked 1.2 innings, allowing one hit and two walks, to collect the win. RHP Oliver Garcia (4.81) worked the final 1.1 innings to earn his fourth save.

Next: Thursday vs. Bowie (Orioles), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 35-28) clobbered Winston-Salem (White Sox), 11-2. RHP JP Massey (1-0, 0.00) started and threw five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and four walks, striking out four. RHP Yunior Thibo (2.08) and RHP Eddy Yean (7.25) each pitched a scoreless inning. LF Jase Bowen (.245) went 1 for 3 with a two-run homer, his 13th, two runs scored and three RBIs. SS Maikol Escotto (.204) went 2 for 4 with a three-run homer, his fifth. 2B Mike Jarvis (.250) went 2 for 4 with a triple, three RBIs and his 14th stolen base. C Eli Wilson (.240) went 1 for 3 with a double, a walk and an RBI.

Next: Thursday vs. Winston-Salem (White Sox), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 35-29) and Lakeland (Tigers) were rained out. The game will not be made up.
