Pirates farm report for June 24, 2023: Quinn Priester strikes out 11 in Indians victory
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 33-40) held off Columbus (Guardians), 3-1. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.229) was 2 for 4 with a two-run homer in the eighth inning that provided the winning runs. 3B Chris Owings (.284) was 2 for 3 with a walk. 2B Jared Triolo (.300) hit his 10th double of the season. RF Mark Mathias (.273) was 1 for 3 with a run scored. C Endy Rodriguez (.244) was 0 for 3 but knocked in his 30th run of the season. A day after going 4 for 6, 1B Miguel Andujar (.349) was 0 for 4. RHP Quinn Priester (4.36) tossed six shutout innings, allowing three hits with two walks and 11 strikeouts in a no-decision. RHP Yohan Ramirez (1-0, 0.90) allowed one hit in one scoreless inning and earned the win. RHP Hunter Stratton (5.34) allowed one run, one hit and one walk in the ninth inning but secured the save.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 33-34) were crushed by Bowie (Orioles), 15-1. 3B Andres Alvarez (.209) was 3 for 4. DH Connor Scott (.209) and 2B Claudio Finol (.235) had the only other hits for the Curve. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.000) was 0 for 5 in the leadoff spot in his second game in Double-A. 1B Ji Man Choi (.200) was 0 for 3 in his rehab outing. In a bullpen game for the Curve, RHP Brad Case (1-1, 3.86) started and took the loss after allowing seven runs (four earned) on seven hits in 2 2/3 innings.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 37-29) rolled past Winston-Salem (White Sox), 12-2. DH Brenden Dixon (.221) was 2 for 3 with a two-run homer. SS Maikol Escotto (.223) was 2 for 4 with three RBIs. 3B Shawn Ross (.224) was 2 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. 2B Mike Jarvis (.251) was 1 for 3 with a double and three runs scored. RHP Logan Hofmann (1-0, 6.00) earned the win after allowing two hits in two scoreless innings of relief with a walk and strikeout. RHP Bubba Chandler (6.33) started and allowed two runs on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.

RHP Alessandro Ercolani (3-4, 4.08) allowed three hits in six scoreless innings with a walk and four strikeouts to earn the win.
