Pirates farm report for June 3, 2021: Colin Moran homers for Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 12-13) lost 3-2 to Columbus (Indians). 1B Colin Moran, making his second rehab appearance as he recovers from a groin injury, went 1 for 3 with a two-run home run in the fourth inning. 3B Phillip Evans, rehabbing a hamstring injury, also went 1 for 3. DH Christian Bethancourt went 2 for 4. RHP James Marvel started and gave up three runs on four hits and three walks in five innings. Four relievers – LHP Joe Jacques, RHP Nick Mears, LHP Austin Davis and RHP Jandel Gustave – each pitched a scoreless inning.

Next: Friday vs. Columbus (Indians), doubleheader, 5:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 17-9) beat Richmond (Giants), 4-2, behind a strong showing from the bullpen. LHP Oddy Nunez pitched three scoreless innings to get the win and RHP Shea Murray pitched a perfect ninth for his second save. RHP Noe Toribio started and went five innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts. C Deon Stafford hit a pinch-hit home run. 1B Brendt Citta went 2 for 4 with an RBI. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba went 1 for 1 with an RBI and three walks. SS Oneil Cruz went 1 for 5 to run his hitting streak to eight games.

Next: Friday at Richmond (Giants), 6:35 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 12-15) lost 8-6 to Winston-Salem (White Sox). LR Matthew Fraizer, a third-round pick out of the University of Arizona in the 2019 draft, went 3 for 4 with two home runs, his fourth and fifth of the season. He’s hitting .300 with an .891 OPS. 2B Aaron Shackelford also hit a home run, his eighth. RHP Colin Selby was tagged for three home runs in 2.2 innings. RHP Michael Burrows started and gave up two runs on one hit with three walks and six strikeouts in 4.2 innings.

Next: Friday vs. Winston-Salem (White Sox), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 18-9) beat Dunedin (Blue Jays), 9-7. RHP Logan Hofmann pitched four innings of scoreless relief, not allowing a hit and striking out three, to improve to 2-0. A fifth-round pick in 2020 out of Northwestern State, Hofmann has a 1.56 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 17.1 innings. 1B Ernny Ordonez went 2 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs. LF Sammy Sianni went 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. 3B Norkis Marcos went 2 for 4 with a walk and drove in a run. RHP Eddy Yean started and gave up four runs on four hits in four innings with four strikeouts.
