Pirates farm report for June 30, 2023: Ji Man Choi’s 3-run homer lifts Indy past Louisville

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 35-42) scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to earn a 10-8 victory over Louisville (Reds). 1B Ji Man Choi (.500) smacked a three-run homer in the ninth inning to secure the win. He was 3 for 5 with a triple and four RBIs as he continues to rehab. 2B Alika Williams (.262) was 2 for 5, including a solo homer. RF/LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.248) was 2 for 4 with an RBI run scored. C Endy Rodriguez (.259) was 1 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored. RHP Travis MacGregor (1-0, 3.12) tossed 2 2/3 innings of no-hit relief with a walk and four strikeouts to earn the win.

Next: Saturday at Louisville (Reds), 7:15 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 34-37) dropped a 5-1 decision to Harrisburg (Nationals). 1B Mason Martin (.207) was 2 for 4 with a solo homer, his 10th of the season, for the Curve’s lone run. 2B Liover Peguero (.271) was 1 for 3. DH Jacob Gonzalez (.264) and LF Matt Fraizer (.238) also had hits. LHP Nick Dombkowski (3.73) allowed four hits in four scoreless innings with three strikeouts in a no-decision. LHP Omar Cruz (1-2, 4.60) took the loss after allowing three runs on three hits with two walks in 1/3 of an inning.

Next: Saturday at Harrisburg (Nationals), 7 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 37-34) lost 5-2 to Hickory (Rangers). SS Shawn Ross (.234) hit a two-run homer for the Grasshoppers’ lone hit and only runs. The first six batters in the lineup combined to go 0 for 17 with nine strikeouts. CF Jase Bowen (.247), Ross and LF Luke Brown (.147) reached on walks. RHP Bubba Chandler (3-3, 6.63) took the loss after giving up four runs on nine hits with five strikeouts in three innings.

Next: Saturday at Hickory (Rangers), 7 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 38-33) was blown out 14-1 by Clearwater (Phillies). 2B Termarr Johnson was 1 for 4 with an RBI, his 26th of the season. LF Enmanuel Terrero (.299) was 1 for 4 with a run scored. DH Josiah Sightler (.375) was 1 for 4. 3B Francisco Acuna (.194) also had a single. LHP Luis Peralta (0-3, 7.20) gave up four runs on three hits with five walks and four strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings and took the loss. RHP Owen Sharts (9.00) followed with two innings of relief and allowed five runs (four earned) on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
