Pirates farm report for June 9, 2024: Dustin Peterson’s 3-run homer helps Altoona beat Richmond

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 26-35) lost 8-3 to Columbus (Guardians). RF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.229) homered as part of a three-run fourth inning. SS Liover Peguero (.274) doubled and had a walk. CF Gilberto Celestino (.288) also was 1 for 3 with a double. LHP Michael Plassmeyer (1-6, 8.74) allowed four runs on five hits with a walk and seven strikeouts and took the loss.

Next: Tuesday at Jacksonville (Marlins), 7:05 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 20-37) scored five times in the fourth inning and defeated Richmond (Giants), 6-4. DH Dustin Peterson (.200) was 2 for 4 with a three-run homer and four total RBIs. 3B/1B Joe Perez (.220) hit a two-run homer. SS/3B Kervin Pichardo (.237) was 2 for 4 with a run scored. LF Yoyner Fajardo (.308) was 2 for 4. RHP Bubba Chandler (2-5, 4.42) allowed two unearned runs on two hits with two strikeouts in three innings of relief and earned the win. LHP Anthony Solometo (6.00) earned a no-decision after giving up one hit and one walk with one strikeout in two innings.

Next: Tuesday vs. Erie (Tigers), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 31-25) lost 18-5 to Jersey Shore (Phillies). DH Joshua Palacios (.231) hit a two-run home run. 2B Termarr Johnson (.213) was 1 for 3 with an RBI. 1B Nick Cimillo (.316) hit a two-run double. RHP Derek Diamond (3-1, 3.58) allowed seven runs (four earned) on six hits with a strikeout in one inning and took the loss.

Next: Tuesday at Winston-Salem (White Sox), 7 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 25-32) scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and took down Clearwater (Phillies), 10-2. C Axiel Plaz (.226) was 3 for 4 with five RBIs, including a three-run homer. 3B Javier Rivas (.204) was 2 for 4 with a two-run home run. CF Shalin Polanco (.161) hit a two-run double. RF Esmerlyn Valdez (.245) was 1 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored. RHP Carlos Jimenez (2-2, 4.50) picked up the win in relief after tossing four scoreless innings and allowing two hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.
