Pirates farm report for May 1, 2024: Yasmani Grandal gets 3 hits on rehab assignment in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 14-12) played small ball in a 14-5 win over Buffalo (Blue Jays). C Yasmani Grandal (.250) hit three singles and had three RBIs, DH Jake Lamb (.391) smacked two doubles and a single and drove in two runs, and Ji Hwan Bae (.391) hit three singles and a double, knocked in a run and stole his third base of the year. SS Liover Peguero (.309) hit a double and a single and finished with a pair of RBIs. RF Billy McKinney (.250) singled, walked and hit a sacrifice fly and had three RBIs and 2B Nick Gonzales (.374) doubled and drove in a run on a groundout. 3B Andres Alvarez (.125) hit his first homer of the season, 1B Malcom Nunez (.265) hit an RBI single and LF Matt Gorksi (.246) was 1 for 5 with a triple. Starter LHP Eric Lauer (3.52) gave up eight hits, including a two-run homer and two solo shots, four runs, walked two and struck out four in four innings. RHP Brad Case (1-0, 0.00) only allowed three hits in his three innings of relief. RHP Ryder Ryan (9.00) walked two, gave up a hit and a run in an inning and RHP Fineas Del Bonta-Smith (0.00) struck out a pair and yielded a hit in an inning.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 5-17) were walked off by Harrisburg (Nationals) in a 5-4 loss. RHP Sean Sullivan (2.78) started and went five innings, allowing three hits, one run on a solo homer and striking out five. RHP Eddy Yean (3.86) also gave up a solo home run as one of his two hits given up, walked one and allowed two runs in 1⅔ innings. RHP Grant Ford (4.50) allowed an unearned run on two hits in a third of an inning. RHP Isaac Mattison (2-1, 3.38) walked two, struck out two and gave up the walk-off solo home run for the loss. 3B Brenden Dixon (.240) singled twice and hit his first home run of the year, a solo shot. C Wyatt Hendrie (.200) hit a two-run double and came in to score on a sacrifice fly by 1B Joe Perez (.237). Jackson Glenn (.179) went 2 for 4 with a single.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 14-8) pelted Winston-Salem (White Sox) in a 14-4 win. Starter RHP Patrick Reilly (4.35) gave up two runs on five hits, including a solo home run, walked a pair and fanned four in four innings of work. LHP Cy Nielson (1-0, 2.00) gave up two unearned runs, walked two and struck out one in an inning. RHP Darvin Garcia (3.09) struck out four, walked one and didn’t allow a hit in two shutout innings of relief. RHP Jack Carey (2.08) struck out one and allowed one hit in two innings. 2B Mitch Jebb (.250) hit two solo home runs, his second and third of the year, and smacked an RBI double. RF Sammy Siani (.339) hit his second home run in as many games, his fourth of the year, and also hit an RBI double, singled and walked. C Giovanni Planchart (.267) hit an RBI triple, singled twice and walked. LF Rodolfo Nolasco (.161) hit a three-run home run, his second of the year and singled. 1B Maikol Escotto (.263) hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 5-18) drummed up one hit in a 2-0 loss to Fort Myers (Twins). 3B Javier Rivas (.100) singled with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to spare the Marauders from being no-hit. RHP Hung-Leng Chang (0-1, 1.10) went 3⅔ innings and gave up one run on three hits, walked three and struck out five to suffer the loss. RHP Garrett McMillan (4.91) gave up a solo home run, walked one, allowed five hits and fanned one in 2⅓ innings. RHP Tyler Kennedy (9.35) struck out six, yielded a hit and walked one in two shutout innings of relief. LHP Inmer Lobo (6.00) struck out two and didn’t allow a hit in one inning.
