Pirates farm report for May 10, 2023: Quinn Priester makes 2nd straight strong start

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 16-18) beat St. Paul (Twins), 4-2. RHP Quinn Priester (3-3, 5.40) won his second straight start, allowing two runs on six hits, including a home run, with two walks and four strikeouts in six innings. LHP Angel Perdomo (3.14), RHP Cody Bolton (2.19) and RHP colin Selby (3.21) each pitched a scoreless inning of relief. 2B Nick Gonzales (.275) went 2 for 5. C Endy Rodriguez (.256) was 1 for 5 with a double and an RBI. 3B Ryan Vilade (.266) went 1 for 4 and drove in a pair. LF Cal Mitchell (.246), 1B Malcom Nunez (.206) and CF Chavez Young (.188) each had two hits.

Next: Thursday at St. Paul (Twins), 7:37 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 13-14) managed only four hits in a 7-2 loss to Akron (Guardians). 1B Mason Martin (.194) hit his fourth home run and walked. DH Matt Gorski (.231) walked and hit his fifth home run. 3B Andrés Alvarez (.176) walked and singled, and 2B Drew Maggi (.176) slapped a single. LHP Nick Dombkowski (0-1, 4,02) tossed 2.2 innings of relief, allowing four runs on six hits, walking two and striking out one in the loss. RHP Jared Jones (2.81) started and allowed one run on two hits in 2.1 innings. LHP Braeden Ogle (8.10) threw 1.2 innings of relief and allowed a two-run home run and struck out five.

Next: Thursday vs. Akron (Guardians), 6:00 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 17-11) doubled up Jersey Shore (Phillies), 8-4. CF Tres Gonzalez (.346) hit two RBI singles and scored twice. LF Sammy Siani (.300) smashed a three-run home run, his third. 2B Tsung-Che Cheng (.280) walked, tripled and scored twice. RF Hudson Head (.273) had a bases-loaded walk and an RBI double. RHP Jaycob Deese (2-0, 4.43) came on in the third and threw three innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits and striking out three. RHP Oliver Mateo (9.39) failed to get an out in the eighth, walking two and giving up a three-run homer. LHP Cy Nielson (2.51) allowed just one hit in his two shutout innings of relief.

Next: Thursday vs. Jersey Shore (Phillies), 6:30 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 17-12) amassed 18 hits and tattooed Lakeland (Tigers), 16-3. 2B Jesus Castillo (.247) went 3 for 5 with a single, an RBI double, a walk and a two-run double. RF Rodolfo Nolasco (.326) singled and smacked a two-run homer, his second. 3B Javier Rivas (.229) slugged a solo home run, his second, slapped an RBI single, walked and hit a two-run single. SS Termarr Johnson (.222) hit two singles, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs. RHP Carlos Lomeli (2-0, 2.63) threw three shutout innings of relief and struck out two for the win. RHP Owen Kellington (3.66) got the start and went three innings, allowed one run on two hits and struck out five.
