Pirates farm report for May 14, 2023: Jared Triolo's 4 RBIs help Indy crush St. Paul

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 18-20) crushed St. Paul (Twins), 15-3. The Indians scored five times in the fourth innings and had a seven-run outburst in the top of the ninth. 3B Jared Triolo (.294) was 3 for 5 with four RBIs. RF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.194) was 3 for 5 with three RBIs. CF Chavez Young (.200) was 2 for 5, including a three-run homer. SS Nick Gonzales was 2 for 5 with a double and triple. LF Cal Mitchell (.256) had an RBI. RHP Caleb Smith (2-3, 8.24) allowed three runs on four hits with three walks and nine strikeouts in five innings to earn the win.

Next: Tuesday vs. Iowa (Cubs), 6:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 15-16) lost to Akron (Guardians), 4-2. 1B Mason Martin (.191) hit his fifth home run of the season. 3B Andres Alvarez (.192), DH Henry Davis (.308) and SS Liover Peguero (.230) had the only other hits for the Curve. C Dylan Shockley (.188) had an RBI walk. LF Matt Gorski (.213) saw his 11-game on-base streak come to an end. RHP Travis MacGregor (1.74) served as an opener and worked two scoreless innings. RHP Justin Meis (0-3, 7.13), a Bethel Park grad, allowed three runs on four hits with a walk and three strikeouts in three innings to take the loss.

Next: Tuesday at Bowie (Orioles), 6:35 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 20-13) dropped a 6-1 decision against Jersey Shore (Phillies). LF Tres Gonzalez (.342) was 2 for 4 with a double. 1B Will Matthiessen (.206) and C Eli Wilson had the only other hits for the Grasshoppers. RHP Valentin Linarez (0-2, 6.97) started and lasted three innings, allowing three runs on six hits with three walks and one strikeouts, and was dealt the loss.

Next: Tuesday at Asheville (Astros), 6:05 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 20-13) rolled past Lakeland (Tigers), 8-3 thanks to a six-run sixth inning. RF Rodolfo Nolasco (.310), SS Termarr Johnson (.234) and DH Javier Rivas (.232) all had two hits. Nolasco, Johnson, 1B Jesus Castillo (.250), LF Enmanuel Terrero (.308), 3B Deivis Nadal (.176) and C Omar Alfonzo (.375) all had an RBI. RHP Derek Diamond (5.19) started and allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts and a walk in five innings. LHP Yoldin De La Paz (2-0, 6.35) earned the win in relief after allowing one run on two hits with a walk and strikeout in two innings.
