Pirates farm report for May 16, 2023: Endy Rodriguez, Henry Davis both belt homers

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 19-20) rolled to a 9-1 victory against Iowa (Cubs). C Endy Rodríguez (.245) crushed a solo home run, his fourth. SS Nick Gonzales (.284) hit his third home run of the year and drove in two runs with a double. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.225) also hit a solo home run, his second, and slapped an RBI single. 2B Vinny Capra (.198) had a sac fly and a two-run single. RHP Quinn Priester (4-3, 4.66) threw seven stellar innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out nine for the win. LHP Rob Zastryzny (0.00), rehabbing an elbow injury, allowed one run, one hit and struck out one in a shutout inning.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 15-17) lost 4-3 to Bowie (Orioles) on a walk-off wild pitch. C Henry Davis (.309) smashed a three-run home run, his ninth of the year. 2B Liover Peguero (.248) hit three doubles and scored a run. RF Matt Frazier (.263) was 1 for 4 with a single, and DH Jacob Gonzalez (.246) was 1 for 4 with a double. RHP Jared Jones (2.70) allowed one run on four hits and struck out seven in four strong innings. RHP Matt Eckelman (2.42) threw 1.2 innings of relief, allowing three walks and three hits, including a two-run home run. RHP Juan Minaya (0-2, 1.13) got one out and gave up a double and a run on a wild pitch to take the loss.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 20-14) were walked off by Asheville (Astros) in a 6-4 loss. LF Tres Gonzalez (.333) hit a two-run home run, his second of the season. C Wyatt Hendrie (.176) hit his first home run of the year, a solo shot, and doubled. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.262) also hit a solo home run, his fifth. RF Jase Bowen (.270) was 2 for 4 with a single and a double. RHP Braxton Ashcroft (3.21) started and tossed three shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out three. RHP Jack Carey (9.72) allowed two runs on four hits and gave up a home run in two-thirds of an inning. RHP Will Kobos (2-1, 1.06) came on in the ninth, walked two, struck out two and was charged with two runs and the loss in as LHP Mitchell Miller (4.73) gave up a walk-off three-run home run.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 20-14) was outslugged by Clearwater (Phillies), 12-10. RHP Blake Cederlind (0-1, 36.00), rehabbing after elbow surgery, allowed six runs on four hits and two walks in an inning. CF Shalin Polanco (.196) went 4 for 5 with a double and his fifth home run, a solo shot. C Geovanny Planchart (.210) went 1 for 3 with a two-run homer, his first, and four RBIs. 2B Termarr Johnson (.255) went 2 for 4 with two runs scored. SS Javier Rivas (.233) went 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. RHP Owen Sharts (0.00) pitched two innings of scoreless relief.
