Pirates farm report for May 17, 2023: Drew Maggi doubles twice in Altoona rout

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 19-21) was edged out by Iowa (Cubs), 5-4. 1B Aaron Shackelford (.277) went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and hit his fourth home run. C Endy Rodriguez (.237) and SS Nick Gonzales (.277) each went 0 for 3 with two walks. LF Cal Mitchell went 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI. RHP Osvaldo Bido (2-3, 3.31) started and went six innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits and four walks. He fanned six. RHP Yerry De Los Santos (7.07) and RHP Cody Bolton (1.88) each threw a scoreless inning.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 16-17) blasted Bowie (Orioles), 11-2. 3B Drew Maggi (.182) went 2 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs. C Henry Davis went 2 for 4 with two walks and two runs scored. 2B Liover Peguero (.254) went 2 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and his 10th stolen base. DH Lolo Sanchez (.195), CF Matt Gorski (.216) and LF Fabricio Macias (.297) also had two hits apiece. RHP Sean Sullivan (1-0, 2.28) started and worked six innings, allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and six strikeouts. RHP Cameron Junker (2.03) pitched a scoreless inning and RHP Brad Case (6.75) threw two.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 20-15) lost to Asheville (Astros), 5-3, on a three-run walk-off home run. RHP Eddy Yean (1-2, 7.43) gave up the bomb to DH Collin Price. He allowed two hits and a walk and did not record an out. RHP Po-Yu Chen (5.74) started and went six innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. SS Tsung Che Cheng (.264) went 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI and his 10th stolen base. 3B Jackson Glenn (.300), 2B Maikol Escotto (.229) and C Eli Wilson (.167) each had two hits.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 20-15) lost 5-4 to Clearwater (Phillies) on a walk-off solo homer by SS Bryan Rincon in the bottom of the ninth. RHP Yunior Thibo (1-2, 3.29) gave up the homer. DH Termarr Johnson (.255) went 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. 1B Nick Cimillo (.294) went 2 for 3 and hit his second home run. 2B Jesus Castillo (.264) went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. RHP Owen Kellington (4.37) started and worked three innings, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.
