Pirates farm report for May 18, 2024: Henry Davis homers twice for Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 19-21) outslugged Toledo (Tigers), 16-10. DH Henry Davis (.257) went 2 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs. CF Ji Hwan Bae (.366) went 4 for 6 with adouble, his fourth home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. 2B Matt Gorski (.260) went 3 for 4 with a double, triple, three-run homer, his third, five RBIs and his third stolen base. SS Andres Alvarez (.250) went 3 for 4 with three runs scored. RHP Isaac Mattson (1.80) started and pitched two innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits with four strikeouts. RHP Chris Gau (4.00) pitched four innings in relief, allowing three runs on four hits with five strikeouts, to pick up the win. RHP Brent Honeywell (6.87) gave up four runs on four hits and a walk in an inning.

Next: Sunday vs. Toledo (Tigers), doubleheader, 12:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 9-29) managed three hits in a 4-0 loss to Akron (Guardians). RHP Thomas Harrington started and threw four perfect innings, striking out five. LHP Anthony Solometo (0-3, 6.55) came on and allowed four runs on five hits, including two homers, in three innings to take the loss. RHP Grant Ford (5.28) pitched a perfect eighth. CF Tres Gonzalez (.228) went 1 for 2 with a double and a walk. RF Jase Bowen (.229) went 1 for 4 with a double.

Next: Sunday at Akron (Guardians), 1:05 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 22-16) was swept by Hickory (Rangers) in a doubleheader.

In the first game, a 3-0 Greensboro loss, the Grasshoppers had only one hit – a single for CF Hudson Head (.239). SS Termarr Johnson (.175) went 0 for 2 with a walk. DH Lonnie White Jr. (.183) went 0 for 3 with a strikeout. LHP Hunter Barco (0-1, 2.23) started and allowed three runs on six hits in five innings. He fanned seven and walked one. RHP Elijah Birdsong (6.00) pitched a scoreless sixth.

In the second game, a 7-5 Greensboro loss, RF Luke Brown (.169) went 1 for 3 with a two-run homer, his second. 3B Charles McAdoo (.308) went 1 for 3 with a triple, a walk and three RBIs. Johnson went 2 for 3 with two doubles and a walk. RHP Patrick Reilly (1-3, 5.74) started and was touched up for six runs, four earned, on three hits and four walks in 3⅔ innings. LHP Jaden Woods (3.21) pitched a perfect sixth.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 17-21) lost 10-9 to Tampa (Rays) in 10 innings. LF Braylon Bishop (.200) went 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs. 1B Axiel Plaz (.375) went 1 for 4 with a two-run homer, his second. C Omar Alfonzo (.264) 1 for 4 with a double and a run scored. 2B Kalae Harrison (.205) went 1 for 5 with a double and two runs scored. SS Keiner Delgado (.220) went 1 for 4 with two stolen bases, his third and fourth. RHP Khristian Curtis (5.93) started and gave up four runs on five hits and four walks in four innings. RHP Peyton Stumbo (3.60) gave up four runs on six hits in 1⅔ innings. LHP Magdiel Cotto (3-3, 1.99) gave up a hit and a walk and let the automatic runner score in the 10th to take the loss.
