Pirates farm report for May 21, 2024: Henry Davis homers again for Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 21-22) clobbered Toledo (Tigers), 18-6. C Henry Davis (.279) went 2 for 5 with a double, a two-run homer, his fourth, two walks, four runs scored and his first stolen base. LF Matt Gorski (.278) went 3 for 6 with two homers, his fifth and sixth, and five RBIs. 3B Malcom Nunez (.273) went 2 for 3 with his fifth homer, three walks, three runs scored and two RBIs. SS Liover Peguero (.292) went 2 for 3 with two walks, two runs scored and two RBIs. RHP Quinn Priester (4.58) started and went four innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, including a homer, with no walks and six strikeouts. RHP Wily Peralta (2-1, 4.85) came on and allowed a run on two hits in two innings to pick up the win.

Next: Wednesday at Iowa (Cubs), 1:08 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 10-30) was routed 11-1 by Erie (Tigers). 2B Francisco Acuna (.308) doubled in 3B Kervin Pichardo (.222) in the top of the fifth for the Curve’s only run. Pichardo was 1 for 2 with a single and a walk and SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.202) was 1 for 4 with a single as Altoona totaled three hits. RHP Po-Yu Chen (0-4, 6.11) started and went four innings, allowing five runs on six hits, including a solo home run, walked a pair and struck out one in the loss. RHP Valentin Linarez (6.53) gave up a run on a solo home run, walked three and struck out four in three innings. RHP Justin Meis (8.44) yielded five runs on a three-run homer and an RBI single and allowed a run to score on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth. 3B Brenden Dixon (0.00) took the mound to record the final out.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 23-17) struck out 16 times in a 15-2 boat race against Greenville (Red Sox). RHP JP Massey (3-4, 6.25) gave up a three-run homer and a pair of solo shots as he surrendered seven runs on six hits, walked three and struck out four in 3 2/3 innings for the loss. LHP Luis Peralta (0.53) struck out a pair and walked one in a scoreless inning. RHP Jaycob Deese (12.27) gave up six runs (four earned) on four hits in a third of an inning and RHP Elijah Birdsong (3.18) struck out three in 2 2/3 no-hit scoreless innings. 1B Nick Cimillo (.302) hit a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth for the Grasshoppers’ only runs. SS Termarr Johnson (.195) was 1 for 4 with two strikeouts and a double. RF Luke Brown (.174) also was 1 for 4 with a pair of strikeouts and slapped a single. 2B Maikol Escotto (.278) went 1 for 3 with two strikeouts and a single and CF PJ Hilson (.303) went 1 for 2 with a walk, a single, a run scored and a strikeout.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 17-23) lost a 6-4 decision to Dunedin (Blue Jays). CF Sergio Campana (.360) doubled in the bottom of the second and hit his first home run of the year in the fourth. SS Keiner Delgado (.260) was 2 for 5 with an RBI single in the seventh and another single in the eighth. 1B Axiel Plaz (.286) hit a sac fly in the seventh and RF Braylon Bishop (.273) hit his first home run of the year in the eighth. RHP Hung-Leng Chang (2-2, 2.48) gave up a two-run homer among his eight hits and four runs in four innings pitched. Chang walked one and struck out four. RHP Danny Carrion (1.42) fanned three and yielded no hits in two scoreless innings of relief. RHP Ryan Harbin (0.00) struck out three, walked one and gave up one hit in a shutout inning. LHP Hunter Furtado (6.19) surrendered two runs on three hits and walked one in two innings.
