Pirates farm report for May 29, 2024: Bubba Chandler gives up 2 homers in Altoona loss

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 24-26) lost 8-2 to Omaha (Royals), managing just four hits. 2B Mike Jarvis (.133) went 1 for 2 with his second homer. DH Henry Davis (.294) went 1 for 4 with an RBI and three strikeouts. CF Jack Suwinski (.250) was 1 for 4 with two strikeouts. C Jason Delay (.333) was 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored. LHP Michael Plassmeyer (1-4, 8.07) started and allowed all eight runs, giving up nine hits, including two home runs, with four strikeouts and no walks in 3 2/3 innings. RHP Wily Peralta (5.46), LHP Josh Fleming (8.31), LHP Geronimo Franzua (5.40) and RHP Ben Heller (5.51) combined to throw 5⅓ scoreless innings of relief, allowing a total of two hits.

Next: Thursday vs. Omaha (Royals), doubleheader, 5:35 p.m.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 15-32) fell 6-2 to Portland (Red Sox). RHP Bubba Chandler (1-4, 5.65) started and lasted four innings, giving up three hits, two of which were solo home runs. He walked one and struck out three. LHP Anthony Solometo (6.00) pitched a scoreless eighth, allowing one hit and walking one. 1B Seth Beer (.307) went 2 for 3 with a double. C Carter Bins (.189) went 1 for 3 with a double, a run scored and his second stolen base. LF Connor Scott (.200) went 1 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Next: Thursday vs. Portland (Red Sox), 6 p.m.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 28-19) clobbered Asheville (Rockies), 12-3. DH Jack Brannigan (.219) went 1 for 4 with his seventh homer, a two-run shot. CF Hudson Head (.242) went 2 for 4 with a double, his seventh homer, two runs scored and three RBIs. 2B Mitch Jebb (.197) went 2 for 4 with his fourth homer and three runs scored. SS Termarr Johnson (.196) went 1 for 4 with a walk, a run scored and three strikeouts. RHP Derek Diamond (3-0, 2.70) started and went five innings, allowing one run on four hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. LHP Yoldin De La Paz (0.00) pitched a scoreless ninth.

Next: Thursday at Asheville (Rockies), 6:35 p.m.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 21-26) got past Fort Myers (Twins), 3-2. LF Braylon Bishop (.275) accounted for all of Bradenton’s offense with a three-run homer, his second, in the seventh inning. DH Justin Miknis (.170) went 2 for 3 with a run scored and a walk. RHP Antwone Kelly (4.86) started and worked five innings, allowing a solo home run among three hits, walking two and striking out two. RHP Mike Walsh (1-0, 1.50) pitched a scoreless sixth to earn the win. LHP Magdiel Cotto (1.75) pitched 1⅓ scoreless innings, allowing one hit, to pick up his third save.
