Pirates farm report for May 30, 2025: Bubba Chandler fans 8, scatters 4 hits in Indy victory

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 30-23) edged Nashville (Brewers), 5-4. RHP Bubba Chandler (2.03) tossed five shutout innings, allowing four hits with a walk and eight strikeouts in a no-decision. RHP Burch Smith (1-0, 8.10) earned the win despite allowing three runs on two hits with a walk in one inning of relief. RHP Kyle Nicolas (4.73) earned his second save with a clean inning of relief with one strikeout. LF Matt Fraizer (.244) hit an RBI single in the eighth inning to seal the win. RF DJ Stewart (.121) smacked a solo homer. DH Nick Yorke (.273) was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. SS Nick Gonzales (.219) was 3 for 5. 3B Tsung-Che Cheng (.195) was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 22-26) had its game against Portland (Red Sox) suspended in the fifth inning because of inclement weather. Altoona is trailing 3-1. It will be completed Saturday.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 33-15) split a doubleheader with Bowling Green (Red Sox). In Game 1, Bowling Green won 2-1. LF/1B Esmerlyn Valdez (.295) was 2 for 3 with a home run. 3B Kalae Harrison (.187) doubled. RHP Antwone Kelly (3.66) allowed four hits and one run with two walks and four strikeouts in six innings. RHP Landon Tomkins (1-1, 1.33) took the loss after giving up one run on one hit with two strikeouts in an inning of relief.

In Game 2, the Grasshoppers won 4-1. LF Shalin Polanco (.216) was 2 for 3 with a two-run homer. Valdez went 2 for 4. C Omar Alfonzo (.248) hit his fifth homer of the season. Harrison had another double. RHP Khristian Curtis (6.09) allowed one run on one hit with three walks and eight strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings. LHP Hunter Furtado (3-0, 7.00) earned the win after tossing 1 2/3 innings of no-hit relief with a walk and two strikeouts.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 22-26) lost 9-3 to Fort Myers (Twins). CF Will Taylor (.324) was 3 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs. SS Yordany De Los Santos (.230) doubled and struck out three times. 2B Jeral Toledo (.204) was 2 for 3 with a run scored. LF Camden Janik (.267) had a triple and two runs scored. DH Konnor Griffin (.303) was 0 for 4 with a walk. RHP Matt Ager (0-3, 6.33) allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits with a walk and strikeout in 2 2/3 innings and took the loss.
