Pirates farm report for May 31, 2023: Nick Gonzales belts grand slam for Indy
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 25-27) clobbered Toledo (Tigers), 13-1. 2B Nick Gonzales (.252) went 1 for 4 with a grand slam, his fifth homer of the season. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.241) went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer, his sixth. RF Cal Mitchell (.271) went 2 for 5 with a solo homer, his sixth. DH Miguel Andujar (.325) went 4 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. SS Jared Triolo (.267) went 2 for 4 with a double. C Endy Rodriguez (.234) went 1 for 4 with a triple. CF Travis Swaggerty (.211) making his return to Triple-A after a rehab assignment following an illness, went 0 for 5 with an RBI. LHP Caleb Smith (6.40) started and pitched two scoreless innings. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski (2-2, 3.32) followed with two scoreless of his own to earn the win. RHP Chase De Jong (1.74) also threw two scoreless frames.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 23-22) got past Binghamton (Mets), 4-3 in 10 innings. CF Matt Gorski (.255) stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by RF Connor Scott (.195) in the 10th. Gorski also hit a solo homer, his sixth of the season. 1B Mason Martin (.216) went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer, his ninth. DH Jacob Gonzalez (.242) went 2 for 5. LF Lolo Sanchez (.203) was 2 for 3 with a walk. RHP Kyle Nicolas (4.05) started and pitched six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk and striking out eight. RHP Juan Minaya (1.71), RHP Noe Toribio (3.77) and RHP Oliver Garcia (4-1, 5.71) each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 24-21) took care of Winston-Salem (White Sox), 6-1. LHP Anthony Solometo (2-3, 2.77) started and threw six scoreless innings, giving up three hits and two walks and striking out five. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.293) went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer, his seventh. CF Jase Bowen (.237) went 1 for 5 with a two-run shot, his ninth. 3B Brenden Dixon (.189) went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI. RHP Grant Ford (5.57) pitched two scoreless innings of relief.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 24-23) was edged out by Tampa (Yankees), 2-1 in 10 innings. CF Shalin Polanco (.207) went 1 for 4 with a double. C Geovanny Planchart (.224) went 1 for 2 with an RBI and two walks. LF Enmanuel Terrero (.292) was 2 for 5. RHP JP Massey (2.58) started and went four innings, allowing one run on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts. RHP Yunior Thibo (2.55) and RHP Darvin Garcia (3.38) each pitched two scoreless innings.
