Pirates farm report for May 31, 2025: Matt Fraizer homers, sparks Indy to win

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 31-23) doubled up Nashville (Brewers), 8-4. RF Matt Fraizer (.271) went 2 for 3 with a double and his second homer. He walked twice, stole two bases and scored three runs. C Brett Sullivan (.211) went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. CF Liover Peguero (.246) went 1 for 2 with a double, walk, two runs scored and an RBI. 3B Alika Williams (.208) went 2 for 4 with an RBI. LHP Hunter Barco (3.52) started and threw three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and three walks with seven strikeouts. RHP Drake Fellows (5-0, 3.99) came on and allowed one run on two hits in three innings to earn the win. He struck out five. RHP Isaac Mattson (2.70) worked a scoreless ninth.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 23-27) split a pair of games with Portland (Red Sox).

In the first game, the completion of a game suspended Friday, the Curve lost 9-3. SS Jack Brannigan (.246) went 1 for 3 with a triple, run scored and RBI. 2B Termarr Johnson (.258) went 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs. RHP Wilber Dotel (3.65) started and went five innings, giving up three runs on three hits, including two homers. RHP Sean Sullivan (0-1, 0.66) gave up two runs, one earned, on two hits in three innings to take the loss.

In the second game, Altoona won 9-7 despite managing only four hits. 1B Brenden Dixon (.150) went 2 for 4 with a walk-off two-run homer in the eighth. DH Nick Cimillo (.225) went 2 for 3 with a grand slam. The rest of the lineup went 0 for 19. RHP Jarod Bayless (4.82) started and lasted three innings, allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits and a walk. RHP Fineas Del Bonta-Smith (6.88) pitched a scoreless inning. RHP Cam Sanders (2-0, 1.66) gave up one unearned run on one hit in two innings to earn the win.

RF Esmerlyn Valdez (.303) went 2 for 5. 2B Duce Gourson (.256) went 2 for 2 with a double and two runs scored. LHP Connor Wietgrefe (0-2, 7.18) started and gave up six runs on six hits, including two homers, in 1⅔ innings to take the loss. RHP Jack Carey (4.26) came on and threw 3⅓ no-hit innings. RHP Beau Burrows (0.00) pitched two scoreless innings and RHP Michael Walsh (2.78) worked a scoreless ninth.

In the first game, an 8-1 Marauders win, SS Konnor Griffin (.313) went 3 for 4 with a double, two runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases, running his season total to 23. DH Will Taylor (.333) went 2 for 4 with his second homer. C Derek Berg (.221) went 2 for 3 with his third homer. CF Braylon Bishop (.241) went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and his 12th stolen base. RHP Peyton Stumbo (5.40) started and went four innings, allowing one run on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. LHP Tyler Samaniego (1-1, 13.50) pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win. RHP Noah Takacs (2.14) worked a scoreless seventh.

In the second game, a 5-3 Bradenton loss, C Axiel Plaz (.280) went 1 for 3 with a three-run homer, his eighth. LF Camden Janik (.269) went 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored. RHP Jonawel Valdez (2-2, 4.05) started and gave up three runs, two earned, on two hits and and two walks in four innings to take the loss. RHP Greiber Mendez (4.40) came on and allowed two runs on two hits and two walks in two innings. RHP David Matoma (4.20) pitched a scoreless seventh.
